A keyless entry car allows you to enter your car without having to unlock with your keys. If your keys are on your person, the car door automatically opens and allows you to start. Introduced for convenience by car manufacturers, the technology works using short-range radio waves.

The key in your pocket or bag transmits a signal that is picked up by a receiver in your car, allowing it to unlock and start if the correct signal is received. If it does not recognise the signal, it will not open.
