Stolen cars found and man arrested at Birmingham ‘Chop Shop’

West Midlands Police locate stolen Audi

This is the moment we smashed down a door at a #Birmingham used car dealership we suspect was acting as a vehicle ‘chop shop’

We found a BMW M3 and the shell of an Audi A6 inside – both had been stolen recently during burglaries in the West Midlands.

And in the back of a locked van we found a Mercedes CLK which was stolen just days earlier.

One man tried sneaking off but he was chased down and arrested nearby on suspicion of handling stolen cars.

Chop Shops are premises – often units on industrial estates or garages – that take stolen cars and dismantle them for parts.

The spare parts are sold on to unsuspecting customers or used to repair matching cars that have been bought from salvage auctions.

Help us tackle car theft by reporting suspicious premises.
